Shocking Footage Captures Moment Shark Knocks Seven-Year-Old Boy Off Surfboard
A camera attached to Chandler Moore's surfboard caught the moment a shark knocked him into the ocean in shocking scenes:
The seven-year-old, from Orlando, Florida, US, went surfing on New Smyrna Beach with his family on Saturday when the encounter took place.
Chandler's dad, Shaun Moore, 40, said little Chandler has been surfing since he was just four before recalling their 'picture perfect' day.
He told CNN: "It was almost 80 degrees, sunny and the waves were good. The beach was crowded and there were a ton of surfers out."
After getting a push out by his dad, Chandler stood on the board and steadied his balance before he spots the shark which looks as though it jumps right across his board.
The father and son duo replayed the footage from the GoPro camera attached to Chandler's surfboard and couldn't believe it.
Chandler told CNN: "I was just surfing and then I saw two fish. I thought the thing that hit me was a fish. When we looked back I saw it was actually a shark I was like, 'Oh my gosh.'"
Speaking to People, Shaun, a professional wake-boarder, added: "We slowed the video down and paused it and were like, 'Oh my gosh, there's a shark'. At that point, we were already done surfing for the night and were like, 'Oh my gosh, we dodged a bullet there.'
"We felt really lucky that Chandler didn't end up having to get stitches or anything like that."
If you were thinking this might have put young Chandler off for life then you'd be very much mistaken. When he was asked by CNN whether he will be surfing again, his response was simple: "Totally".
It must be terrifying to watch your children in danger like Shaun did. Another man who knows about this all too well is Dan Watson who noticed a shadow lingering behind his kids before realising that it was a shark.
And it was swimming towards his three kids. Watch his footage here.
Dan, a photographer and owner of YouTube channel Learning Cameras, was using a drone to take the overhead shots of his kids as they splashed in the sea in Florida.
Speaking to FOX35 Orlando, Dan said: "Kids were playing in the beach and I just decided, 'Hey, now's a good time to get a picture of them overhead.'
"Literally, as soon as I got it into the air, I started seeing a shadow moving through the water right towards them."
Thankfully Dan and his wife managed to get his three kids out of the water unharmed.
