Two Legged Dog Named Lieutenant Dan Is A Finalist To Become Cadbury Bunny
Every year, in the lead up to Easter, hundreds of pet owners in America put their animals forward to be considered for the Cadbury Bunny.
It can be a dog, a cat, a pig, an actual bunny; whatever you want.
Judges will decide which pet will become the Cadbury Bunny of that particular year based on three essential categories: relevance to contest theme (showing off your Cadbury pet in bunny ears), creativity and brand appeal.
The field for 2020 has been narrowed down to 10 finalists and in amongst the contestants is a dog from Ohio.
While that might not spark much intrigue, we should let you know that it's a two-legged treeing walker coonhound that is called Lieutenant Dan.
The canine is named after Gary Sinise's iconic character from Forrest Gump, who lost his legs during a bombing in Vietnam.
Obviously we don't want to sway the competition but just have a look at some of Lieutenant Dan's photos for the competition.

His adopted owners told The Cincinnati Enquirer that 'he has a joy for life that's infectious and inspiring' - which is not hard to see, judging from his social media.
The dog was born with a birth defect, which meant his back legs had to be amputated, leaving him in a specially designed wheelchair.
His Instagram page has thousands of followers and his Cadbury Bunny profile reads: "Lieutenant Dan was born different, but hasn't let that slow him down! He has a joy for life that is infectious and inspiring!"
There is a little more than one week left of voting to go and Dan is up against some pretty stiff competition, which includes a sunglasses-wearing pig, a very photogenic looking duck, an adorable Labrador service dog, a llama, a miniature horse and a cat that looks like it just doesn't want to be there.
The lucky winner of the annual prize gets $5,000 and will be featured in a Cadbury's commercial.
Ethan Mandel, associate brand manager for Cadbury, told WLWT: "The Cadbury Clucking Bunny commercial has been a perennial Easter favorite for over 30 years. After last year's newest edition, featuring Henri the bulldog, and the overwhelming positive feedback we've received, we decided to bring back the bunny tryouts."
The winner will get announced later this month so keep your eyes peeled.
