Child Steals Pope's Hat And Also Our Hearts

Child Steals Pope's Hat And Also Our Hearts

This is brilliant.

The Pope is a pretty cool pope. He says that he won't judge gay people, kissed the feet of prisoners, comforted a rape victim and he even goes out of the Vatican to feed the hungry. And he looks great doing it, in his white robes and his little skull cap which, in case you're wondering, is called a zucchetto.

When Catholic blogger, known only as Mountain Bouterac, went to meet him he took along his goddaughter and she was pretty taken by the Pope too.

And pretty taken by his hat.

So she snatched it off his head, natch. That's right, she stole the most famous religious man in the world's hat.

Mountain posted a video on Twitter of the famous hat theft, and boasted: "Took my Goddaughter to meet the pope. She stole his hat!"

But even though the little girl broke one of the ten commandments - thou shall not steal - the Pope forgave her and even seemed to find it funny! Luckily he took it pretty well and had a good laugh about it.

Mountain took the hat off her and gave it back to the Pope. It wouldn't do to have a bald Pope wandering about. But it's a nice show of humanity from the Pope.

I have always wanted to try on one of the Pope's hats, but not the zucchetto; the papal tiara. It's a three-tiered crown - popes don't use it anymore so I don't see why they can't lend it to me. Or perhaps the mitre, the tall white peaked hat.

I think having a job where you get a special hat would be the coolest thing ever.

Took my Goddaughter to meet the pope. She stole his hat!

Apart from letting a toddler nick his hat, the Pope has been pretty busy of late. He's been talking about the evils of social media. Even though the Pope lives in the Vatican, he's noticed that we're all glued to our smart phones and understandably he's a bit worried for our mental health.

He's quite worried about the lies he sees on social media and according to Time magazine has said: "Don't let yourselves be led astray by this false image of reality! Be the protagonists of your history; decide your own future."

All well and good, I will be doing that, but he's also said that we should be reading the Bible as much as we look at our mobile phones. I'm not even sure how that would be possible?!
