Can you imagine what you'd do if you won an inconceivably large amount of money on the lottery? Of course you can't - that's why it's inconceivable. But for one lucky LAD, it's become reality.

A 20-year-old LAD in the US has become unfathomably rich after winning a $451m (£326m) Mega Millions lottery jackpot last Friday - and said he hopes to 'do good for humanity'.

Shane Missler, from Port Richey on the Gulf Coast of Florida, cannily used money he'd already won on a scratch-off lottery ticket to purchase his jackpot winning ticket.

Shane's ticket correctly matched the five winning numbers and 'Mega Ball' number drawn on 5 January: 28, 30, 39, 59, and 70 with a 'Mega Ball' of 10.

The identical match not only made Shane the only winner in the US-wide contest, but the fourth biggest winner in the game's entire history.

What makes Shane's victory even jammier is that he didn't even pick the six winning numbers himself. He hadn't even picked the winning numbers from Lost - no bizarre strategies involved. Instead, he simply used the 'Quick Pick' option when buying the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven store in his home town - meaning that the numbers were chosen totally at random.

Just minutes after he realised he'd won the jackpot of a lifetime, he reacted exactly as you'd expect, taking to Facebook to say: 'Oh. My. God.'

Interestingly, Shane opted to receive a one-time payment of almost $282m (£205m) instead of the full amount over a longer time period. Guess he was set for life regardless.

Despite his now being as rich as Croesus, the 20-year-old told the Tampa Bay Times he wants to use his new-found wealth to give something back to society. Admirable, really.

"I'm only 20, but I hope to use it to pursue a variety of passions, help my family and do some good for humanity," Shane said in a statement, accompanied by his dad and a lawyer.

"Although I'm young I've had a crash course this week in financial management and I feel so fortunate to have this incredible wealth and team behind me. I intend to take care of my family, have some fun along the way and cement a path for financial success so that I can leave a legacy far into the future."

Before his big win, Shane worked as a specialist for a company carrying out employment background checks - obviously, he binned that job off quickly.

Now Shane has the time and resources to focus on making the world a better place. We'll be rooting for you, mate.
