British Airways Responds After 'Atrocious' First Class Breakfast Is Leaving People Wanting To Vomit

British Airways has been forced to issue an apology over a photo of an ‘atrocious’ meal served on one of their planes

British Airways has responded to a photo of an ‘atrocious’ meal served in one of their first class cabins.

The admittedly pitiful snap was sent to TV presenter Jane Hawkes, who shared it on her social media page and claimed the meal was served on a flight from Abuja to London.

It didn’t take long for Twitter to pile on, which isn’t that surprising, seeing as a one-way, first class flight from Abuja will set you back around £6000.

Hawkes captioned her photo: “First class #BritishAirways breakfast. Thoughts?” and let’s just say, thoughts were shared.

Offering up a rather lengthy response, one person tweeted: “Nothing first class about that. There are three things that are almost unidentifiable. It must be egg since it's breakfast but looks like potato salad. The yellow things wtf are they? The brown thing? That's not black pudding so what is it? I think that's a tomato but it's burnt.”

Cutting straight to the point, another added: “That looks disgusting. What is that grey stuff?” while a third tweeted: “Looks disgusting [vomit emoji].”

Another social media user pondered: “Why does the sausage look like a skinned penis?” Equally baffled by the sausage situation, another penned: “I'm just worried about what that sausage might have died of.”

Other comments included: “What’s the red thing? What’s the brown thing? What’s the black thing?”, “What’s the mush?” and “Gotta ask, what is that grey pile?”

However, some social media users felt it was in bad taste to complain about food while the UK is in the midst of a cost of living crisis.

“People are struggling to feed their families [and] heat their homes… If you’re lucky enough to fly first class then perhaps appreciate the comedy value of this one bad meal. Don’t rub your wealth of opportunity in people’s faces," said one Twitter user.

Speaking to MailOnline, Hawkes said she was sent the photo by a friend who had flown into Heathrow.

She explained: “He only shared it as he was so disgusted. He didn't expect it to go viral.”

A British Airways spokesperson told LADbible: "We're speaking with our third-party caterers to understand what happened here, as this clearly doesn't meet our usual high standards. We're sorry we let our customers down on this occasion."
