Bam Margera has taken to Instagram to talk about how he was 'robbed' at gunpoint in a random taxi when they translated the message 'empty your wallet'.

The professional skateboarder, who shot to fame when he appeared on Jackass, had just arrived in Cartagena, Colombia, when he jumped in a taxi outside the airport.

In the video he explained: "I couldn't speak Spanish, they couldn't speak English and they translated on their phone for me to read 'empty your wallet', as they put a gun on their lap to show it to me".

Not really your everyday occurrence is it? Or at least you hope not.

Luckily, the 'thieves' let Bam go but not without stealing $500 (£392) from him that was in his wallet. Because when you're at gunpoint, you give over whatever you have - Jackass or not.

And it looks like the experience got the better of the father-of-one when he posted another video to Instagram, two hours after the initial one.

This time he was letting his 1.6 million followers know that he had broken his nine month sobriety.

According to Revolver Mag, Margera slipped down a dark path of heavy drinking and excessive partying following the death of his best friend, Ryan Dunn.

But he discovered a 'new purpose' with his wife, Nikki, and son, Phoenix Wolf - ditching the booze and making a triumphant return to skateboarding.

He told Vice: "At its worst, I would probably just wake up around 11 AM and instantly start drinking vodka and purple Gatorade.

"By the end of the night, I would probably have ten pints worth of it. It was pretty bad. It was weird, because there would be times where I would go on a three-day bender of drinking and then five days of not drinking. When that five days ended, I would go on a two-day bender."

Last Autumn Bam attended a surprise Jackass reunion where the beers flowed all night long.

He told Revolver Mag: "Long story short, as I drove away from the party, not knowing where I was headed, I pulled over to try and figure it out.

"That's when I noticed the police lights behind me. I was like, 'Fuck, I'm pulled over.' As it turned out, the police had actually pulled someone else over right behind me, and then came to my car to see why I was just sitting there.

"I had nothing to do with it, but I stayed there until I had something to do with it. So yeah, I had the pleasure of getting a DUI that night that led to my being in a treatment centre for a month."
