Tributes have poured in for the TV personality.

Heavy D was known for his devotion to Arsenal, regularly giving interviews and commenting on football account AFTV. The channel tweeted about the news of his death:

A fan wrote: "I am actually shocked about this, I can't believe this, I'm lost for words R.I.P Heavy D."

Newell appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, when he was the fourth housemate to leave.

He started his career in acting, appearing in adverts, but his loud, distinctive voice made a name for itself, with his catchphrase 'boom' making him known affectionately as The Boominator.
