Coco Austin Explains Why She Still Breastfeeds Five-Year-Old Daughter

Coco Austin has explained her decision to continue breastfeeding her five-year-old daughter.

The actor, who is married to Ice-T, is mum to Chanel who she explained does eat solid food too, but has breast milk as 'a snack'.

In a recent interview with US Weekly, Coco stressed that her young daughter regularly chows down on 'steaks and hamburgers', but the pair continue to nurse as she finds it 'bonding'.

She told the news outlet: "Chanel still likes my boobs.

"It's a big bonding moment for a mother and your child."

She went on to say that although she's now eating regular meals, she still 'likes a little snack every now and then'. And when it comes to snacks, it seems the youngster is keen on her mum's milk.

The 42-year-old added: "Why take that away from her? If she doesn't want it, all right, that's where you stop it. But I'm not just going to say no."

Last year, Coco wrote on Instagram to stress that her daughter happily eats 'real food' but enjoys the 'comfort' of breastfeeding.

She wrote: "Believe me, the girl loves meat so it's not like she isn't eating real food. Thank you to all that understand my view.

"I see most of you are so eager to side with me and I too root for you in your journey as well. Us moms are connected."

Although very obviously no one else's business, this isn't the first time Coco has had to explain her parenting style to others.

Back in 2019, Coco told InTouch that she thinks her daughter will know when it's the right time to stop breastfeeding.

She explained: "When she doesn't want me, she's going to not want me.

"Believe me, she's not going to be like 16 and be like, 'Mom, can I have the boob? and then a car'.

"She's going to go through a time in her life where she's like, 'OK, I got this Mom, I don't need you.' And right now she still wants me so I'm just going to accept it."

Coco also said Chanel shares a bed with her and Ice-T as well as their four dogs.

"We call it the family bed," Austin explained. "We have Chanel and all four dogs."
