Nick McGlashan, one of the stars of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, has passed away at the age of 33.

According to reports, Nick died on Sunday (27 December) in Nashville with the cause of death not yet determined.

According to the Mirror, Nick's family confirmed the news and the Davidson County Medical Examiner confirmed it to CNN on Monday (28 December).

The programme he appeared on also paid tribute to him, writing: "Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nick's loved ones during this difficult time.

"Nick came from a long line of crabbers and had a sharp sense of humor even in the most difficult conditions.

"He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him."

As well as co-stars beginning to pay tribute to Nick, his sister also turned to Twitter, writing: "My brother nick passed away.

"This is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. Please hold your loved ones tight."

She then followed up by explaining that anyone wanting to donate money to the family could do so by sending it to her Venmo or PayPal.

She went on to add: "These funds will go directly to my mom, June, to help her with anything she needs during this devastating time. REST IN PEACE @NickMcglashan."

In a later tweet, she wrote: "Please send all your love to my momma June McGlashan. NO ONE should ever have to experience the death of their own child.

"We're absolutely devastated. There will never be anyone like Nick."

Nick began working on a boat when he was just 13 years old. And, according to his biography on the Discovery Go site, he was 'a 7th generation fisherman who was raised not far from Dutch Harbor on the nearby island of Akutan, Alaska.'

Rest in peace, Nick.
