Eminem Sold His Michigan Mansion For Less Than Half Of What He Bought It For

Not the best investment then...

You might think from looking at Eminem's former mansion in Rochester Hills, near Detroit, that it would be worth an absolute fortune.

But when you see what the interiors looked like when the rapper put it on the market in 2017, you might understand why it only fetched half of its previous value at the time.

The rap legend Eminem picked up the huge lot in 2003 for $4.75 million (£3.45 million) and 14 years later he only managed to get $1.9 million (£1.37 million) at sale. Ouch.

The house - situated at 5760 Winkler Mill Road - boasts 22 rooms, 17,500 square feet of living space, an impressive pool and spa area, gigantic lawn and a tennis and basketball court. My flat came with a washing machine, mate, but you don't hear me bragging.

Prospective buyers may, however, have been put off by some dated interior decor choices.

Back in 2017, there was pinewood decorating virtually every inch of the property along with floral curtains and a creepily high number of chef statues dotted around the place.

Not that there's anything really wrong with having those things in your house, it just seems a bit strange when it's Eminem's former crib. According to the Daily Mail, he's barely ever stayed in the mansion and prefers to live in another house in nearby Clinton Township.

Surprisingly, it was named in Hot List's Top 10 Rappers' Mansions for 2016, which also included the mega gaffs belonging to 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and Jay Z and Beyoncé.

The property went back on the market in 2020 - this time with an asking price of $3.7 million (£2.6m).

More recent pictures showed what looked to be a pretty extensive refit (and fewer chef statues), which probably explains why it's expected to fetch more this time around.

Meanwhile, a resurfaced Eminem interview is going viral on TikTok in which the rapper argues that there are words that rhyme with 'orange'.

In the clip from a 2010 interview with Anderson Cooper which was recently shared by TikTok user @siphers_, Marshall Mathers said that if you pronounce the word clearly, you can (nearly) make it rhyme with other words and phrases.

He said: "The word orange doesn't rhyme with anything, and it kind of pisses me off because I can think of a lot of things that rhyme with orange. If you're taking the word at face value, and you just say 'orange', nothing is going to rhyme with it exactly.

"If you enunciate it and make it more than one syllable, or-ange, you can say, like, I put my or-ange, four inch, door hinge in storage and ate porr-idge with George."

Perhaps we can look forward to these unusual couplets in an upcoming Eminem track.
