Grimes Responds After Being Photographed Reading Karl Marx Book

Grimes has responded after she was photographed reading a Karl Marx book following her split from Elon Musk.

The singer and the billionaire had been together for three years and in that time, they had baby X AE A-XII together in May 2020.

But last week, Musk confirmed that the couple had 'semi-separated', and Grimes subsequently appeared to have developed an interest in communism.

In a series of bizarre photos, Grimes - real name Claire Boucher - can be seen thumbing through The Communist Manifesto by Marx in downtown Los Angeles, all the while dressed like some kind of Star Wars character.

The pictures looked as though they were staged, but now the 33-year-old has taken to Instagram to explain what was going on, claiming she saw an 'opportunity to troll'.

She also revealed that she is still living with Musk and isn't in fact a communist.

She wrote: "Full disclosure I'm still living with e and I am not a communist (although there are some very smart ideas in this book - but personally I'm more interested in a radical decentralized ubi that I think could potentially be achieved thru crypto and gaming but I haven't ironed that idea out enough yet to explain it. Regardless my opinions on politics are difficult to describe because the political systems that inspire me the most have not yet been implemented).

"Anyway if paparazzi keep chasing me perhaps I will try to think of more ways to meme - suggestions welcome!"

In a statement to Page Six on 24 September, Musk said he and Grimes have remained on 'great terms'.

He said: "We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms.

"It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA.

"She's staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room."

Meanwhile, Grimes has said she is planning on setting up a lesbian space commune.

She said: "I'll be colonizing [one of Jupiter's moons] Europa separately from Elon for the lesbian space commune."

SpaceX and Tesla CEO Musk was previously married to author Justine Wilson, with whom he has five sons - twins Griffin and Xavier, 17, and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai, 15.

He was also twice married to actor Talulah Riley, who he married in 2010 before they divorced in 2012 - only to remarry in 2013 and once again divorce in 2016.
