Halyna Hutchins' friend has expressed her 'anger' following her tragic death.

Ms Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed by Hollywood star Alec Baldwin on the set of the movie Rust yesterday (21 October), which they were both working on.

Baldwin was reportedly holding a prop gun when he accidentally fired it, killing director of photography Ms Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

In a post on Instagram, Ms Hutchins' friend and former colleague Pollyanna McIntosh shared photos of herself with Ms Hutchins while calling on better safety for movie sets.

She wrote: "I love you lass. The most talented, in the trenches, committed, wonderful artist and team mate.

"I haven't got all the words yet at the loss of Halyna but to everyone who knew her I send huge love and peace and I'm here to talk if you wanna.

"Have been talking to the Darlin' cast and crew this morning. We were so lucky to have her as cinematographer on Darlin'. We'll all miss you. You were going to keep making amazing films.

"Much love to her family. I'm so sorry for their loss. And of course I'm angry. This has to stop happening on set. My thoughts are with the whole crew and cast of her current project too."

Following the news of her death, tributes have poured in from those within the industry.

Film director James Cullen Bressack also wrote: "I will miss you my friend.... This is devastating."

Taking to Twitter, he added: "I will never use anything but airsoft and rubber guns on my movies ever again. This should never have happened. Halyna, you were a gem. This is so f****d up."

Ms Hutchins posted a video on the movie set just 2 days before her death.

Commenting on a recent post on Ms Hutchins' Instagram page, Dwayne Johnson said: "I am so so sorry. Rest easy. My love and strength to your family."

A Santa Fe Sheriff's Department official has explained there is an ongoing investigation, but added: "Mr Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released. No arrests or charges have been filed."

The official statement outlined the incident: "Santa Fe County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Bonanza Creek Ranch movie set of the western "Rust", October 21, 2021, when a 911 caller reported a shooting on the set."Featured Image Credit: Instagram/@pollyannamcintosh
