Kaley Cuoco and husband Karl Cook have announced they are separating after three years of marriage.

The 35-year-old Big Bang Theory star and Cook, 30, released a joint statement in which they said there is 'no anger or animosity' about the split.

The statement, given to People, read: "Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realised that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.

"We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary.

"We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further."

The pair started dating in 2016 and got engaged a year later. The couple tied the knot on 30 June 2019 in a low-key ceremony surrounded by close friends and family in San Diego.

Kaley and Karl only moved in together in March 2020 after spending the first two years of their marriage living separately.

She later said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that living together had been 'great for our relationship', quipping 'we like each other we realised, which is even better'.

She has previously described her relationship with Karl as 'unconventional'.

Earlier this year, animal-loving Cuoco offered to buy the horse punched by a coach during the 2020 Olympics.

Germany's Annika Schleu had been winning the women's modern pentathlon until the showjumping part of the event during which horse Saint Boy refused to jump.

Coach - and former pentathlete - Kim Raisner was seen punching the horse in frustration.

The incident was widely condemned on social media, with Cuoco amongst those to hit out at the coach.

Responding to the news on Instagram, she wrote: "I feel it's my duty and heart to comment on this disgrace.

"This is not Olympic show jumping. This is a disgusting classless abusive representation of our sport in so many ways. This team should be ashamed of themselves.

"You and your team did not do your country proud or this sport. You make us look bad. Shame on you and Godspeed to any animal that comes in contact with you."

She continued: "This is not our sport. This does not represent our sport.

"This rider and her 'trainer' are a disgrace. I'll buy that horse outright and show it the life it should have. Name your price."
