Rapper Kanye West has held his first US Presidential campaign rally and in true to form style it was very Kanye West.

The 43-year-old had people pack into the Exquis Event Centre in North Charleston, South Carolina. Compared to his rivals Joe Biden and Donald Trump, it was far more low key and West didn't even have a microphone.

Wearing a bullet-proof vest, he spoke about a lot of things, however he became incredibly emotional when he started talking about abortion.

Kanye has revealed that he is against the procedure but still thinks it should be legal.

During his rant, he explained how he and wife Kim Kardashian nearly aborted their first child, North West, however decided against it one night in Paris.

He told the crowd: "I called my wife and she said, 'We're gonna have this baby.' I said, 'We're gonna have this child. I know people that are 50 years old that didn't have children, that have never been able to experience the level of joy that I experienced having a child.

"So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn't want to. She stood up and she protected that child.

"You know who else protected a child? Who do you think might have protected a child? My mum saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mum saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy!"

At this point he started breaking down in tears and it was difficult to work out what he was saying.

While he doesn't want to change the rules around abortion in America, he did say there needs to be more support for people who decide to have children.

He brought this up several times during the rally and at one point he said parents should receive $1 million if they have a baby.

But he continued to rant about how the world needs to help people more when it comes to raising a child.

"In the state that we live in right now, we eat meat. In the Garden of Eden we didn't have to. In this state right now, if someone is raped, I understand why someone would make the choice of getting an abortion.

"I understand, if a father is not there, I understand if a person is in an impoverished community, why - or if they're impoverished and they can't afford their fifth, or their sixth, or their seventh child, or even their first child, I understand the situation.

"God will still make a way. God will make a way.

"Society is set up in a way, we feel that God won't make a way. When I was $53 million in debt, I was in the crazy home, and as soon as I said Jesus's name out loud, he gave me the increase.

"What I'm saying is, we understand, we're not going to go back to women having to go in an alley and do crazy things."

During the rally, he also spoke about education inequity, police brutality, his battle with opioids, his dealings with Adidas, and his stance on legalising marijuana.
