Alright, alright, alright

Good guy Matthew McConaughey has given up his time to host a bingo round for seniors at a retirement village in America.

People all around the world have been confined to their homes and rooms to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

As a result, many people are working out ways to keep in touch with each other so that they can prevent boredom and stave off the effects of loneliness.

For young people, that's easy. Most are already well connected via phones and social media. However, for the elderly it's a little trickery because they're not used to dealing with Zoom meetings and Houseparty calls with their mates.

But the good people at The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living in Round Rock, Texas, managed to get all the seniors set up with iPads for a bingo event.

They were given small, square cards with numbers and letters attached to it and hoped for a fun afternoon.

Little did they know they were going to get a visit from Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey.

The 50-year-old actor, along with his wife Camila Alves, two of their children and his mother Kay, joined the Zoom Bingo event and hosted a round or two.

He really seemed to get involved in the game, calling out the winners with gusto.

McConaughey yelled: "We got I-24. Richard is waving a hammer up high, we got Charles with the iPad up high. We got two winners!"

Staff and residents at the retirement village were thrilled to have the movie star join them for their event.

Writing on Facebook, The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living said: "Thank you to Matthew, his wife Camila, and his mom Kay for hosting our residents for a few rounds of virtual bingo! Our residents had a great time playing, and they loved talking with Matthew about his family heritage and his favourite drink."

At the end of the event, the residents all held up bright, green signs with their favourite McConaughey quotes from his films.

One of the residents said: "I wanted to say, from all of us, we want to continue to turn a red light into a green light," as all of the residents held up green signs.

The actor and his family seemed happy they could put a smile on the resident's faces.
