Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has revealed that she was recently shot in the foot and required emergency surgery.

The 25-year-old explained in an Instagram post that she was 'lucky to be alive' after the incident, which occurred on Sunday.

The 'Savage' rapper, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, wrote: "On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.

"Police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be alive and that l'm expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.

"I'm currently focused on my recovery, so l can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible."

To add further insight to the shocking story, Meghan captioned the post with: "I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener and a blessing in disguise.

"I hate that it took this experience for me to learn how to protect my energy."

The rapper rocketed to fame with her song 'Savage' after it went viral on TikTok. The track became even more successful when Megan Thee Stallion released a remixed version featuring Beyoncé, which reached number one on the US Billboard chart in May of this year.
