Ashton Kutcher Says Wife Mila Kunis Persuaded Him To Sell Ticket To Space

Ashton Kutcher was set to follow in the footsteps of Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos by travelling to space - until wife Mila Kunis stepped in.

The former That '70s Show co-stars got married in 2015 and have two children together, and Kunis clearly thought it best that her hubby stay on planet Earth for the time being.

Speaking to Cheddar News, Kutcher said: "When I got married and had kids, my wife basically encouraged [me] that it was not a smart family decision to be heading into space when we have young children.

"So I ended up selling my ticket back to Virgin Galactic.

"I was supposed to be on the next flight."

But while the 43-year-old may be grounded for the time being, it seems he may have brokered some kind of deal permitting him to take the flight when the kids are a little older.

He said: "I will not be on the next flight, but at some point, I'm going to space."

Amazon founder Bezos launched into space yesterday (20 July), becoming the second person to ride his own rocket into space, following Virgin Galactic's Branson by nine days.

Like Kutcher, he had to put up with loved ones questioning why he would take such a risk; unlike Kutcher though, he clearly won the argument.

"I know it's going to change me and I'm excited to find out how," Bezos told CNN the day before lift-off.

"We really believe this flight is safe - I had friends say to me, 'How about the second flight or the third flight, why do you have to go on the first flight?' and the point is that we know the vehicle's safe.

"If the vehicle is not safe for me, it's not safe for anyone. We have never raced. We have taken this one step at a time, we're ready."

Speaking after landing back in Texas, Bezos said his childhood dream exceeded his expectations.

He said: "Oh my God. My expectations were high, and they were dramatically exceeded.

"The zero Gs may have been one of the biggest surprises, because it felt so normal.

"It felt like, almost like we were as humans evolved to be in that environment, which I know is impossible, but it felt so serene and peaceful and the floating.

"It's actually much nicer than being in full one gravity."
