Bieber claimed that the people who 'overlook' Chris Brown because of a 'mistake he made' need to 'reevaluate' and it's not gone down well

Justin Bieber is a controversial fella at times, isn't he? On April Fool's Day he joked about his wife, Hailey Baldwin, being pregnant which certainly agitated many people.

More recently, he defended the actions of Chris Brown who, for context, was arrested and charged with assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna back in February 2009.

Brown, now 29, pleaded guilty and was ordered to serve five years of probation, community service and counselling for domestic violence.

When 25-year-old Bieber took to Instagram to share his opinion, he compared Brown to the likes of Michael Jackson and Tupac, writing: "Everyone wants to wait til people die To give them the credit they deserve.

"I'm calling it now. When CB passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time ... trust me, watch, you will see.

"The people who have over looked this man's talent because of a mistake he made... you need to reevaluate! Love you @chrisbrownofficial."

Chris Brown promptly responded saying: "I LOVE YOU MAN! THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING IN ME. YOUR STAR SHINES SO BRIGHT AND YOUR HEART IS UNMATCHED!

"YOU ARE A KING BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY YOU WERE PUT HERE TO INSPIRE AND CREATE ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES BRO! IM WITH YA TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF AND WHEN THEY DO ... WE GONE [sic] GET SOME NEW WHEELS".

While some commented on the post to share their appreciation for Brown, many weren't as forthcoming.

One wrote: "Just because he's talented doesn't mean he should be given a free pass to harm others. Posts & sentiments like yours are exactly why survivors are afraid to come forward and speak out."

Another added: "CB's not even close to that level and NEVER will be. I can't believe Justin disrespected them like that, it disgusted me even more".

A third commented: "This man should have been cancelled long ago just like some others famous guys."

Someone else said: "If this happened to someone that u love, I'm sure that u will never say something like this."

Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life/Riveting Entertainment

Back in 2017 Chris Brown released a short documentary Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life, where he opened up about the incident.

He explained: "So then she hits me a couple more times. It doesn't go from translation to, 'Let's sit down, I'm telling you the truth.' So now I'm going to be mean and be evil. Like, I remember she tried to kick me, just like her beating shit.

"But then I really hit her. With a closed fist. Like I punched her, and it busted her lip. And when I saw it I was in shock, I was... 'Fuck, why did I hit her like that?'

"So from there she's spitting blood in my face, it raised me even more. It's a real fight in the car, and we driving in the street. I'm like, 'Yo, we tripping, what the fuck, what are we doing?'"
