Proving himself to be the nicest man in Hollywood once again, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has reached out to a family of a fan, who lost her life, with a heartfelt video.

Aileen Pizarro, 42, and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana were killed in San Diego on the 23 August following a head-on collision with YouTube star Trevor 'McSkillet' Heitmann, who was driving his sports car the wrong way down the highway.

Following the tragedy, Aileen's son Angelo tweeted the actor asking if he would record a message for the funeral as she had always been a massive fan.

The moving post quickly went viral and it wasn't long before the former WWE star spotted and sent a response.

In a minute-long video with the actor told the grieving family members he was 'sending so much love and light and strength' their way to get through a difficult time.

He thanked Angelo for reaching out and gave his condolences for the loss of Aileen and Aryanna.

He then went on to thank Aileen for being such a big fan during her life.

Speaking to KUSI News, Angelo said: "I thought he would be too busy to notice unless it got huge. After around 150 retweets it took off like a roller coaster.

"My brother, my grandfather and I thought the message was so heartwarming, we are very appreciative.

"My mom was a huge fan, she would always take me to see his movies. I'm mind blown still.

"I know she is looking down right now and laughing."

Social media users were quick to heap praise on the actor for his kind gesture as well as offer their condolences to the family.

Angelo has also spoke out about the overwhelming amount of support they've had from members of the general public.

A GoFundMe page set up with a $5,000 target to help cover funeral costs has since received over $50,000 in donations.

He told the news outlet: "We have felt a tremendous outpouring of support from people around the world who felt the need to connect with us."

Before adding that he hopes people can remember his mum and sister for their lives, rather than their deaths, saying: "Remember how selfless my mother was, how happy they made everyone around them and how full of life Aryana was."
