A BMW belonging to Tom Cruise's bodyguard was stolen and dumped behind a chicken shop in Birmingham.

The £100,000 BMW X7 was reportedly stolen while it was parked outside Grand Hotel in the city.

According to the Sun, the car was found behind a fried chicken takeaway around three miles away from the hotel.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "CCTV enquiries have been made in the area the car was recovered from. Inquiries are ongoing."

A police spokesperson previously said: "We received a report of a BMW X7 stolen from Church Street, Birmingham in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"The car was recovered a short time later in Smethwick. CCTV enquiries have been made in the area that the car was recovered from. Inquiries are ongoing."

Cruise is currently filming Mission: Impossible 7 in the city.

His presence has caused a bit of stir with local residents as he's been seen out and about filming.

He also popped into Asha's curry house, where he treated himself to two chicken tikka masalas.

Cruise was said to be so delighted with the dish, that after eating one he immediately reordered himself another.

Owners of Asha's tweeted a photo of Tom outside with staff and wrote: "It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Tom Cruise to Asha's Birmingham yesterday evening.

"Tom ordered our famous Chicken Tikka Masala and enjoyed it so much that as soon as he had finished, he ordered it all over again - the greatest compliment."

The restaurant's starstruck owner, Nouman Farouqi, told Birmingham Live: "When he came he said he didn't want any fuss and just wanted to be part of the atmosphere.

"He wanted a meal just like any other guest and simply wanted to enjoy an authentic Indian meal.

"A few diners recognised him but not all. Nobody made a fuss, though when he left people went a little bit crazy.

"He agreed to have his picture taken outside in a socially-distanced way and had his mask on for the first picture.

"He then took his mask off and said: 'Take another one'."
