There are some things we say and then afterwards regret the verbal diarrhoea so much. Claiming to have performed sex acts on your pet cat is not one of those things, though. I don't mean you wouldn't regret saying it, I mean you just wouldn't say it to begin with.

Well, that is unless you're YouTuber Shane Dawson. In 2015, he made some rather controversial comments relating to his cat during a podcast that was being recorded.

He has now taken to Twitter to apologise to his 7.9 million followers after the clip resurfaced.

*Next paragraph is not for the faint-hearted.

During the recording, Dawson claimed to have done 'terrible things' to his pets before going on to describe all sorts of graphic and, frankly, weird details.

During his lengthy confession, the 30-year-old added: "ive apologized many times for all the dumb shit ive said in videos and podcasts over the years. ive learned my lesson over and over again and im more confident now in my ability to be entertaining by just being myself and not being so shocking for laughs."

Well, that's reassuring.

The YouTuber, who has more than 21 million subscribers on his channel, went on to explain that the situation is 'embarrassing' adding: "I fucking hate myself for it".

This isn't the first time Dawson has said things that have shocked people. Back in 2014, he made comments about a six-year-old girl being 'sexy'.

He said: "She shows me her Instagram, and - first of all, I don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but she was kind of sexy.

"Having sex with children or touching children is terrible and you should not do it. But, here's my thing - people have foot fetishes. People have fetishes about everything."
