YouTuber Jake Paul Threw Party Ignoring Social Distancing Despite Surge In Cases

YouTuber Jake Paul is facing action from local authorities after he threw a huge party at his mansion in California, totally ignoring social distancing rules. Watch the video here:

Videos have emerged from the party, which took place at his Calabasas home, which show people packed in to the house, not wearing masks or social distancing.

Jake Paul, 23, who first found fame by posting on video app Vine (RIP), is under fire after the videos of his house party were shared on social media.

Dozens of people can be seen drinking, with some playing beer pong, dancing, watching TV together and even messing around on a JCB in his yard.

But the lack of social distancing has caused the authorities to express their concern. With coronavirus cases in California breaking a new record on Tuesday (14 July) with 11,000 confirmed infections being recorded, Calabasas mayor Alicia Weintraub says she is considering 'all options' for punishing the YouTuber.

The state has now got over 365,000 cases and more than 7,490 deaths.

Like other states that have reopened and lifted lockdown, California is now experiencing a spike of new cases, with many areas starting restrictions again.

Speaking to ABC News, Mayor Weintraub said: "I was very upset that somebody would hold such an outrageous gathering in our community.

"We're trying to do everything we can to get our numbers down and keep our community safe, and something like this just does the opposite."

Weintraub explained that starting from Wednesday night, the city of Calabasas will be imposing a fine of $100 (£80) for people who are seen not wearing a mask.

As reported by Fox11, she said: "They're having this large party, no social distancing, no masks, it's just a big huge disregard for everything that everybody is trying to do to get things back to functioning.

"It's really just a party acting like Covid does not exist, it's acting that businesses aren't closed."

She also said that she is working with the local police to make sure that no more house parties take place that flout the social distancing guidelines.

Although Paul has not said anything about the party yet, he has retweeted Tyler Oakley, another YouTuber.

The tweet contained a video from the party which was tweeted out by a reporter from Fox News - the retweet said simply: "F*** you, @jakepaul."
