Radio Presenter Selling Advertising Space On Her Forehead For Charity

Radio Presenter Selling Advertising Space On Her Forehead For Charity

If you have a message, get a bid in and see it temporarily tattooed on Claira Hermet's head

A BBC Radio London presenter is looking to raise £10,000 by selling advertising space on her forehead to businesses and brands using temporary tattoos.

Claira Hermet is trying to get together some funds for Black Minds Matter, Shelter and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) by spending 21 days - one week per brand - with large logos or slogans temp-tattooed right across the middle of her face.

She's keen to point out that you can also donate to her efforts without having to get a message stuck on her head, but if you want to get involved and grow your business with this - let's say - unique marketing opportunity, you'll have to get involved in the auction right here.

Speaking to LADbible, Claira said: "A month or so ago my producer Carla and I were looking for something to talk about on the show and we ended up researching the weirdest things people have sold on the internet.

"It turns out that some guy sold his forehead as ad space about 10 years ago and we both thought it was a brilliant idea!

"Then I thought, 'I could do that,' and here we are!"

So, there are a few rules regarding what she will and won't have embossed on her noggin. It's not a free-for-all.

However, so long as what you want is nothing to do with weapons, gambling, tobacco, alcohol, pornography or sex, you can pretty much do what you like.

Claira explained: "As I'm working with charities and they have some very clear guidelines about what I can and can't advertise.

"For me, as long as it's not offensive or an organisation/person whose values completely conflict with mine, then I don't mind at all!

"I don't take myself too seriously and I don't mind looking silly for a good cause. If it makes people laugh and it spreads joy, even if it's at my expense, I'm game!"

She's already started to receive some sideways glances while promoting her mission.

Claira continued: "When we were out filming a video to talk about the campaign and taking some pictures, I had a 'Your Logo Here' temporary tattoo on my head and I did get some funny looks, but it was a great conversation starter and I love a chat so I'm happy with that!

"The whole point is that people look at my forehead - it will be a mini billboard so I can imagine it's going to be a bit of an adventure.

"I guess being single means I don't have to worry about what a partner might say, but any boyfriend I do have would have to be aware that I am a fan of crazy schemes and they would need to love and accept me as I am, logo and all."

That seems fair enough.

Underneath all of this, Claira is driven by a willing to go the extra mile for charity, and that is something that shouldn't be forgotten, amid all the silliness.

Claira added: "We are all experiencing incredibly uncertain times and loads of people are really struggling more than ever with their mental health due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the knock-on effects.

"As someone who has suffered with depression, anxiety, panic attacks and eating disorders I wanted to do something to help people who really need help and support.

"Homelessness is a huge issue in the UK that got even worse due to the pandemic and I wanted to make sure that I was offering some help to charities who need even more support at this time of year."

We can all get behind that. Speaking of which - for the attention of my marketing and advertising colleagues - Claira concluded: "There has been lots of interest but it's not interest that counts - the cold hard bids do!

"So, LADbible - when can I expect your bid?"

Again, you can make a donation or bid to have your brand advertised at this website.
