The dangers of online shopping

Many of us will have fallen foul to the perils of online shopping at some point in the past, with the item arriving and looking vastly different to how it was pictured.

Bride-to-be Meaghan Taylor is one such disappointed shopper after snapping up what she thought was a bargain £60 wedding dress only to end up with something quite different.

Meaghan, 23, ordered a white, lace, flowing full-length ball-gown type dress with a V-shaped neckline, but what actually arrived was a poorly-made, ill-fitting dress that rode up her body as she attempted to try it on.

Thankfully Meaghan, who is set to wed fiancé Keith next summer, managed to see the funny side of the whole situation.

She said: "I was blown away by what I received. It looked nothing like the photo when I ordered it.

"I was pretty heartbroken, but I couldn't help but laugh."

Meaghan, from Stratford, Prince Edward Island in Canada, has since contacted the private seller to ask for a refund and was initially denied one.

But fortunately for Meaghan, the seller then u-turned and has since handed over her dosh. Presumably she can put it towards another dress.

"I did ask for my money back," she said.

"But they had told me I needed the original packaging and the box it had come in, which I didn't keep.

"I then proceeded to tell them that this ruined my wedding as I was expecting the dress in the photo.

"And they finally returned my money."

"We hope to get married once the Covid restrictions are lifted - next summer is our plan."

Sharing her unfortunate shopping experience online and comparison shots online, Meaghan wrote: "On another episode of what we ordered and what we actually got. My face tells exactly how I'm feeling.

"Show me your online fails."

Meaghan is happy the post managed to put a smile on people's faces, adding: "It was too funny not to post.

"I'm sure a lot of people will get a kick out of it.

"I'm glad it made everyone else's day just like it did mine."

That's the spirit.
