WARNING: SOME PEOPLE MAY FIND THESE IMAGES DISTRESSING

Images of five-year-old Omran Daqneesh went viral yesterday as people realised the horrors that are currently taking place in his home country of Syria. News anchors broke down in tears reporting on it, it was shared worldwide and everyone was asking the same question: "Where are his parents?".

I'm pleased to report that his parents are alive, as are all three of Omran's siblings and they have been reunited. After being pulled from the rubble that was once his home in Aleppo, he was taken to hospital.

According to one of the nurses who treated him, he didn't cry the whole time he was alone. All he did was ask for his parents.

When he spotted them, he broke down.

ABC reported that Abu Rajab from the Syrian American Medical Society said that he seemed in shock: "He didn't say anything except to ask for his parents.

"They arrived shortly after, in a second wave of people.

"Only then once Omran saw them did he start crying."

According to the Daily Mail, his wounds were superficial and nurses were able to wrap up his head and eye and discharge him.

There are also people who would rather we didn't share these images. Well, I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable but we need to remember exactly what's happening over there. This is daily life for these people. Omran's distant stare is reminiscent of thousands of other kids in his position.

Russia has reportedly agreed to halt fire in Aleppo for 48-hour periods from next week. The UN has asked for the pauses so that they can deliver aid.

Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov wrote in a statement: "Russia's Defence Ministry is ready to support the proposal by UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura regarding the introduction of weekly 48-hour 'humanitarian pauses' [in Aleppo]."

We're glad Omran and his family are okay.
