Energy Switching Entrepreneurs Receive The 'Best Deal' Ever On 'Dragons' Den'

It might not be the most exciting thing ever brought into the den, but it's one of the most useful

We've all got a Dragons' Den idea, right? Stuck away there at the back of your head, just waiting to be teased out by the right millionaire investor?

Well, if you haven't got one, you should get one. It could end up making you a lot of money someday.

That's exactly what has happened to Will Hodson and Henry de Zoete after their entrepreneurial energy switching idea bagged them what is being described as the best deal ever in the history of the show.

While it's not as exciting as my solar-powered wheely office chair with built-in popcorn dispenser (patent pending), you'd have to imagine it's definitely going to turn out to be more lucrative.

Their company is called 'Look After My Bills'. It finds customers the best deals for their gas and electric suppliers and then automatically switches them once their current deal runs out.

Simple, but effective, as it turned out.

They were up to their ears in offers. All five of the dragons offered them some sort of deal, in fact. In the end, they could afford to drive a hard bargain and only ended up parting with about three percent of their business for £120,000 ($153,000). That's peanuts compared to what the idea is worth.

They are also planning to branch out into looking after broadband and car insurance services in the future - providing they are a success.

They eventually plumped for the offer put on the table by two Dragons together, Tej Lalvani and Jenny Campbell.

As any avid watcher of the show will know, it's often better to get as much dragon expertise on board as possible, so having two could prove to be a masterstroke in the long run.

Mr Hodson said: "We're absolutely delighted to have got a deal done with two brilliant Dragons, Jenny and Tej, who we know will massively help the business.

"This year has seen all Britain's biggest energy suppliers increase their prices, some twice, and the Dragons are backing a company that protects people against rip-off pricing forever."

A noble cause, no doubt.

As mentioned earlier, this is thought to be the best deal that anyone has ever managed to get inside the den. The previous notable success was in 2005 when 'Lost My Name' - a publishing business venture - was snapped up for five percent and a £100,000 investment by Piers Linney.

It's gone pretty well since then. They've sold more than 2.7 million books for children since then. That's a decent return for everyone.

The two intrepid entrepreneurs behind this, de Zoete and Hodson, met each other at Bristol University and worked separately before pooling their expertise for this venture.

They could stand to make millions out of it. Lend us a fiver, LADs.
