Let's be real here for a moment: Denzel Washington is one of the coolest, badass dudes on this planet right now. It's fact. Saying that, you're probably not surprised to hear that his son has inherited his charm and swagger.
According to the Metro, John David Washington was quick to fire back at a Today show reporter who didn't acknowledge his mother, Pauletta Washington, in an interview.
The 34-year-old was talking about his role in Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, but then the reporter decided to say the following: "Being the son of Denzel Washington..."
Big mistake there, buddy. John acknowledged his mother's achievements, showing that it's not all about having a famous dad - we all like to be a bit of a mommy's boy.
"[Pauletta Washington] was earning more money than he was before they got married," John said. "She was on Broadway working and she paid for the first date, paid the bill, paid for the cab ride."
You have to remember that John isn't like any ordinary person that could easily lose their cool. Nope, he's a man that has some serious mojo and went on to handle the situation in the best way possible.
"She's a classically-trained pianist, went to Juliard," John said. "She's a great artist in her own right and I learned a lot from her. My father taught me how to hunt, my mother taught me how to love."
Well, well... What a way to respond, eh? You probably won't be surprised that many people online have approved of John's message to the reporter.
One Twitter user wrote: "When/if I have a son, I want him to talk about me the way that John David Washington talks about mummy Pauletta. Also, Denzel is clearly a lucky man."
Another user tweeted: "He said put some RESPECT on his mother's name! I'm here for it, John David Washington!"
BlacKkKlansman takes place in the 1970s and follows John in the role of Detective Ron Stallworth, who is the first black detective in the Colorado Springs police department. Stallworth plans to infiltrate the ranks of the Ku Klux Klan and expose it for what it truly is.
The film is already out in cinemas in the US - and you'd probably not be surprised that people LOVE the actor's work in it!
There's no doubt that John, much like any other actor, doesn't want to be known in the industry for the famous acting chops of their father and mother. Although you can't say no to the idea of him teaming up with his pops - don't forget about his mother - to make one of the most explosive films of all time.
