Peter Kay Is Coming Back To TV With New Series Of 'Comedy Shuffle'

Peter Kay is to return to screens in the UK with a new series of Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle on BBC One.

The big news for fans of the Bolton comedian was announced on Twitter from Peter Kay's official account this morning. The tweet said: "Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle returns for a new series on Monday 15th October at 9pm on @BBCOne"

Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle is a variety show that features clips from the various shows, stand-up performances, and TV appearances that Kay has made over the years.

Previous incarnations of the show have seen clips from Kay classics such as Phoenix Nights, That Peter Kay Thing, and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, as well as chat-show appearances and - obviously - some of his unforgettable routines at Bolton Albert Halls and the top of Blackpool Tower.

Kay has been the subject of much concern in recent times and had to cancel a huge amount of stand-up performances at the end of last year due to "unforeseen family circumstances".

In December 2017 he tweeted a statement that read: "Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.

"This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.

"My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I'm sure you'll understand my family must always come first.

"I've always endeavoured to protect my family's privacy from the media. "I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I'm very sorry."

Since then, the notoriously private comic has been seen and heard from only rarely. He appeared at a special charity screening of the final episode of another show that will feature in Comedy Shuffle - the award winning Car Share.

At that event at Blackpool's Opera House back in April he introduced the last episode of the show and seemed, by all accounts, in good spirits.

Another added: "Best news of the day..we could all do with a laugh....with all the bad things in the world"

Good stuff. Here's hoping we get some new Peter Kay stuff as well in the future - Car Share and Phoenix Nights both have another series in the tank if you ask us...
