Stefan Karl Stefansson, famous for his role as Robbie Rotten on the children's TV show LazyTown, has seemingly made a miraculous recovery from cancer.

A few months ago, the 42-year-old was reported to be in the "final stages" of liver cancer, but he has since told RUV that he is cancer free following two surgeries.

He was originally diagnosed with bile-duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) in 2016.

"The damn disease is gone," he said. "Until it comes back, whenever that will be, which will hopefully be never. Life is now. It's almost a miracle that I'm still here."

According to reports, he is now working on a stand-up comedy routine which will poke fun at him living with cancer.

While he notes that it won't make him live any longer, he states that being able to laugh at the past year will make it that little bit easier.
