They Are Rebooting The Inbetweeners And People Are Really Upset

Is nothing sacred?

It's been almost a decade since The Inbetweeners was first shown on our screen and it is still epic. It followed the embarrassing teenage years of four friends who were in between being cool and nerdy and got up to a lot of shenanigans.

Mostly it was painfully funny. And no one thought it was going to be as popular as it was - but everyone loved it.

When it was released in 2011, The Inbetweeners Movie became the highest grossing British comedy movie of all time.

Less said about the second film the better.

But the producers have said that the brand is still so strong and the series was so popular that they are thinking about doing a reboot. But without the original cast. Oooh controversial. They were the whole reason it worked in the first place!

The only fly in the ointment that I can see is that when they tried to take The Inbetweeners to the States and remake it, it was a total flop. For whatever reason, they couldn't recreate the magic of the original series.

Someone suggested they should have copied Skins and done different generations.

But even then, the first generation was always the best.

Some people aren't feeling the love.

The original series had some great moments. How would they even try to recreate these epic times of filth, embarrassment and weirdness? Remember when Neil punches a fish to death when they're on a boat in the middle of the harbour?

So brutal.

But that doesn't compare to the frisbee disaster. Football would have been so much safer to play, even for Will.

Every time I watch it I still can't believe he hits that disabled woman and then actually manages to make it worse. Oh, Will.

Or what about the time when Simon tried to seduce Carli and ended up puking everywhere? If you're trying to get in the pants of someone you've been in love with since you were seven years old, this is basically the worst thing you could do.

Projectile vomit is not romantic.

But the dance scene from the film is still the funniest thing they've ever done. It was a masterpiece of choreography and showcases their personalities perfectly. Neil is totally out there, committed to dancing his heart out. Simon is trying too hard to be cool and failing miserably. And Will has no idea what dancing is so is pretending to ride on a horse.

I'm not sure that it can get better than this.
