Aldi’s Bringing Back The ‘Big Daddy’ Steak And It’s Only A Fiver

BBQ season might be over, but do you really need a reason to indulge in a steak as big as your face?

Vegetarians, look away now - Aldi is bringing the Big Daddy rump steak back to its shelves.

Yet again, the budget shop will be flogging the gigantic steaks that weigh in at a whopping 16oz (nearly half a KG). BBQ season might be over, but do you really need a reason to indulge in a slab of meat as big as your face?

Although the last time Aldi appeared to be selling the super-sized steaks was earlier in summer, some eagle-eyed shoppers spotted them back on the shelves in recent times and took to sharing the offer on deals forum HotUKDeals.

Not only do the Big Daddies weigh nearly twice as much as your average supermarket steak, but they also provide more bang for your buck too at just £4.99.

As pointed out by the Sun, the next biggest supermarket rump steak out there seems to be a Tesco Finest one that weighs 350g - that's *checks maths* 100g less than Aldi's and costs £6.65.

A statement from Aldi when it re-introduced the steaks in summer read: "Back by popular demand, the 16oz 'Big Daddy' Extra Thick Rump Steak is returning! The 21-day matured steak costs only £4.99 and is best cooked over a very high heat, with a generous resting time."

If you want to get your hands on Aldi's Big Daddy steak, you'll have to be quick and hope that you live near a store that's stocking them. As one commenter wrote under the recent announcement, "They're very rare. Well done if you find one." We're going to go ahead and assume that pun definitely was intended.

The Sun added that the steaks - which went on resale from yesterday (11 October) - are one of Aldi's Specialbuys, which means there is limited stock and once they're gone, they're gone.

It's kinda mean for the supermarket to keep taunting us with this giant bit of meat for a limited time only. The first time the Big Daddy came into this world was reportedly back on Father's Day 2017, and since then it's been on and off the shelves like a meaty yo-yo.

Now they're back, you'd better get in there quick if you want to enjoy one of these bad boys along with a plate full of chips and peppercorn sauce this weekend. And if that thought hasn't got your mouth watering, we don't know what will.

Well, maybe this bacon-wrapped grilled-cheese sandwich, actually. Nom nom nom.
