We are all fairly familiar with the chip butty - or barm, or roll, or whatever you call it. It's pretty much the perfect creation.

And considering how good the chip butty is, it's amazing fast-food chains haven't jumped on that tasty bandwagon and milked it for all its worth.

Well, one of them finally has. Burger King in New Zealand has just launched its own version of the staple British snack. Hallelujah!

Setting you back just NZ $2 (99p), the Chip Butty is part of the company's Change Range Menu and is available now.

Describing the meal, the BK website says: "With crispy golden fries, mayo and ketchup, nestled between two soft buns, His Royal Fry-ness, the CHIP BUTTY has arrived. A dish fit for a King at a price fit for everyone."

You can also add bacon to the chip butty for NZ $1 (50p).

Back in 2013, stores in the US sold a chip butty that came with a chargrilled hamburger patty, as well as lettuce and mayo. But now they have forgone the traditional toppings, in favour of the humble fry.

The culinary wizards at BK are no strangers to attempting new and interesting concoctions. Last year, they added a new halloumi burger to their menu.

The new halloumi burger has been rolled out in all its UK restaurants, following a successful trial in Sweden.

I always knew I liked the Swedes, but never thought they would be responsible for a halloumi burger in my local Burger King.

You can either buy the burger on its own or as a meal with fries. The real news here though is that you don't just have to settle for one slice of halloumi - Burger King has gone and given the option to double up.

The Halloumi Burger on its own will only set you back £3.99. A meal would cost £5.99, while the double costs £5.49 and the double meal £7.49.

In a statement at the time, Burger King said: "Halloumi lovers across the UK rejoice and mark your calendars - the 8th of July will see Burger King launch the highly-anticipated Halloumi Burger nationwide.

"Made with crispy and delicious halloumi cheese from Cyprus, the Halloumi Burger will have lovers of this Cypriot delicacy filled with excitement."

There's no news as to whether Burger King's chip butty will also make its way to the UK, but we'll keep you posted as soon we know more.
