Neil Lake, managing director of Costa Coffee UK & Ireland, said: "We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our customers as we begin to re-open our stores.

"As we near our next key milestone of 2,000+ store re-openings by the end of July, we're delighted to treat Costa Coffee fans to a handcrafted drink, on us.

"To ensure both our customers and team members are safe we have introduced some new measures across our estate, while also maintaining the warm environment that we know they have been missing.

"We're looking forward to welcoming everyone through our doors to enjoy their favourite Costa Coffee drink!"

Costa reopened more than 1,000 of its stores at the end of June with new social distancing measures in place, including Perspex screens, hand sanitiser stations and contactless payment.

Speaking in June, Jill McDonald, CEO of Costa Coffee, said: "We're delighted to be able to share the news that by the end of June 1,100+ of our stores will re-open for take-away or delivery.

"We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback that we have received from our customers and are pleased to once again be able to serve them our signature, handcrafted coffee."
