A woman tucking into her Domino's pizza was horrified after spotting nuts and bolts scattered across the top.

The woman ordered a pizza on 29 July from a Domino's branch in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, and was half-way through eating it when she saw the metal objects sitting aside the ham, pepperoni and cheese.

Sharing photos of her unexpected extra toppings online the woman wrote: "PLEASE PLEASE double check your pizzas before eating I'd hate if I or anyone ingested these!

"Be careful when ordering from Domino's Pizza at the Thornton-Cleveleys branch on Fleetwood Rd North.

"Serious choking hazard and health and safety issue here sort yourselfs Domino's Pizza. Please please share, I'd hate if this was a more serious matter for someone else. (sic)"

Domino's has since apologised and refunded the woman, as well as getting in touch with the store the pizza was bought to investigate.

In a statement to Lancashire Live, Domino's said: "At Domino's we take customer satisfaction and safety extremely seriously - contamination of this nature is extremely rare.

"As soon as we received Ms. Barton's complaint in July we apologised for the distress caused and thoroughly investigated at a store level. We swiftly offered Ms. Barton a full refund which she accepted at the time.

"We have reminded our store team of the correct process to avoid any future issues of this nature."

Earlier this year, it was a pizza customer that went viral, after they chose to 'tip' their delivery driver with a slice of their order.

In a clip shared on TikTok, a delivery man on a bike could be seen approaching a customer's front door - while holding a pizza box - and ringing the doorbell.

The bloke then spotted a note that read: "No money for tip, please take a slice of pizza," to which the disgruntled man replied: "You kidding me?"

However, he followed the instruction and lifted the lid to help himself to a slice before leaving.

Commenting on the video, one person wrote: "No tip... then don't order."

While another wrote: "I deliver pizzas and I would be pretty annoyed. We eat free already and that's gas I just wasted for nothing."
