Greggs has announced it's launching a Vegan Festive Bake, having also revealed when we can expect the Christmas snack to land in stores along with the beloved OG version.

The Festive Bake combines pieces of chicken, sage and onion stuffing and sweetcure bacon in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, all encased in golden puff pastry with a crunchy crumb topping.

Usually, the seasonal product launches in early November, just in time to get everyone in the Christmassy mood.

And this year is no different - other than the fact that this time, it's bringing a plant-based friend to join the party.

The popular chain tweeted this morning to reveal that Festive Bake fans would be getting a brand new vegan version.

In a promotional video, it teased: "'Tis the season... 'Tis the vegan.

"They're coming... The Festive Bake and the new Vegan Festive Bake."

And you won't have long to wait to have that sweet taste of both, as they'll be arriving in Greggs stores in three weeks' time on 4 November.

In the tweet, Greggs added: "Christmas is coming and so are the Festive Bakes! (Yes, you read it right) The 3 week countdown is on..."

The new Vegan Festive Bake will cost from £1.60 and contain 449 calories, and will be available in all Greggs shops across the UK from Thursday 4 November - along with the original Festive Bake (also from £1.60, containing 453kcal).

In a press release, Greggs said it has created the new product in response to 'surging public demand for a vegan-friendly take on the Christmas classic'.

It said: "Taking inspiration from the original masterpiece, the vegan-friendly version is filled with Quorn mycoprotein pieces, sage & onion stuffing and a vegan bacon crumb, finished with a mouth-watering sage & cranberry sauce encased in delicious puff pastry."

Hannah Squirrell, Customer Director at Greggs, commented: "The Festive Bake is the latest iconic Greggs Bake to receive a vegan-friendly makeover, and it retains all the classic Christmassy flavours of the original.

"There's nothing better over the festive season than tucking into delicious Christmas food, and we're confident that customers will love our latest tasty Bakes."

And it seems fans are already suitably excited for the new item with one writing: "Thank you for making a vegan one," adding a drooling emoji.

Another person said: "I'm trying the vegan one."

A third wrote: "Screaming. Been vegan or so for the past 12 years and Greggs has gone from irrelevant to MVP in just the past few."

Of course, even the news of the normal Festive Bake returning has sparked joy among Greggs lovers.

One tweeted: "SHUTTT UPPP BEST TIME OF YEAR."

Someone else said: "The only countdown I'm interested in! #FestiveBake."

Another said it was the news they'd been 'waiting for', while one simply wrote: "Here we f***ing go."

Others, meanwhile, weren't quite so patient, with one begging: "Do it sooner please, I think we all need it."
