It truly is the most wonderful time of the year - and this is when you can get it.

There are so many things we love about Christmas, which is known as the most wonderful time of the year for a number of reasons.

For starters, you obviously get mountains of presents - sure, some one them involve a terrible pair of socks in the office Secret Santa, but sometimes you luck out with a surprise £50 from Grandma or something.

You can also get away with lying on the sofa watching Christmas films, because when it's the holiday season, laziness is magically morphed into feeling cosy and warm. Winner.

But the most truly wonderful reason of them all? Why, it's the Greggs Festive Bake, OF COURSE.

It's the legendary stuff of everyone's pastry-based dreams, having become as synonymous with the Christmas period as Santa Claus himself. In fact, we spend most of our year counting down the days until we can get our hands on that delicious pasty stuffed with chicken, stuffing and sweetcure bacon in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce. And that crumb topping! Oh baby.

Well, good news, kids - the bakery chain has now announced that we can get our festive treat from 8 November, which, you'll find, is just around the corner.

However, in an even bigger turn of events, this year they've got another ace card up their sleeve.

Along with other products on the festive menu - like the turkey, bacon and cranberry roll, salted caramel latte, mince pie and mature Cheddar cheese and chutney toastie - this year we also get pots of pigs in blankets.

"Tuck into a tub of succulent pork sausages wrapped in smoked streaky bacon," Greggs tells us.

Oh, we will, Greggs. Several, I'd imagine.

Just think of the snacking potential on the bus to work each morning. Or you could grab a pot to dip into your miserable soup from the work canteen. Or just have a tub on your desk so that you've always got that Christmassy double-pig hit at any given time.

We're also very into the Christmas lunch sandwich, which does exactly what it says on the tin by cramming an entire Christmas dinner in between two slices of bread. We're talking sliced turkey breast, sage and onion stuffing, sweetcure bacon, salad leaves, cranberry and port sauce and mayonnaise.

Let's not forget Greggs also does gift cards... just to throw out a massive hint to anyone who might get me for Secret Santa this year. Festive bakes and pigs in blankets over novelty socks any day.
