I'm sure there are many things we get called behind our backs without our knowledge, and frankly, in that case I'd rather be blissfully unaware.

But one guy from Phoenix, Arizona, had his defining feature inadvertently revealed to him in a very blunt way - after he was handed a takeaway ticket saying he was the 'ugly sweater' customer. Awkward.

Daniel, 22, went into a Chic-Fil-A store in Flagstaff, Arizona, to order 30 nuggets and fries.

He received his order and was on his way out when a member of staff handed him his takeout ticket - used by workers serving food to help identify customers, but not usually given out.

A slightly surprised Daniel then read the ticket at saw the term 'ugly sweater' printed on it in huge capital letters.

Finding the whole thing hilarious, Daniel posted a picture on Twitter with a picture of the receipt and his middle finger in the air, with the caption: "It was not my pleasure to eat Chic Fil A today!"

After the post went viral - gaining more than 148,000 likes and 16,000 retweets - Daniel said in a later update: "I'm not mad but I am sad and I will take reparations in free chicken sandwiches."

In another post, Daniel also answered a few lingering questions, adding: "1. I had a drink already 2. I shared the nugs with my gf 3. I didn't ask them to say that 4. It's not a receipt, it's a takeout ticket they use to identify the customer, it was given to me by accident 5. StReAmmY MuSiC."

Daniel, a biology student who is also a musician under the name of Zinfandel Zaddy, said: "I just ordered 30 nuggets and fries.

"I got it from a store in flagstaff, AZ.

"I didn't realise they gave me the takeout ticket until later, they're snot supposed to give those to people, they're just for the workers to identify the individuals for takeout orders.

"But when I realised what it said I thought it was really funny.

"I didn't complain or anything because I didn't take it too seriously, but it was pretty awkward considering I was extra nice to the cashier since they were especially busy that day.

"They didn't say anything about my sweater while I was there."

For the record, we think it's a lovely sweater. Screw the haters.
