You'll need to clear some space in your freezer because Heron Foods has brought back its 4.5-litre tubs of Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

The budget supermarket announced the exciting news earlier today (16 September).

In a post to the chain's Facebook page, it said: "In the mooood for something really special?

"Ben and Jerry's best loved flavours in a whopping 4.5L tub! You're gonna need a bigger freezer!"

The tubs are available in Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Caramel Chew Chew, Cookie Dough S'wich, Phish Food, Fair Trade Vanilla, and Peanut Butter Cup.

But you'll have to be quick if you want to get a tub or two, because they're only around for a limited time.

Sadly, however, they'll also set you back £5 ($6.49) which, compared to a classic tub is an absolute steal, but is a sharp increase on the last time Heron was stocking the sweet treat.

The massive tubs come in all our favourite flavours.

Back in June, the chain revealed it was selling the monsters. A spokesperson for the grocery firm told LADbible that they set to go to cinemas but had to be diverted to stores after they closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the time, they were flogging 4.5-litre tubs of Baked Alaska and Moo-phoria Chocolate Cookie Dough for just £3.50 ($4.30) a pop.

Upon hearing about the incredible offer, one sweet-toothed fan dubbed this the 'deal of the millennium' with another writing: "Might drive 35 miles to my nearest Heron Foods." Can't say we'd blame you.

A third commented: "Found Baked Alaska in Hull area Heron Foods, I'm going to need a bigger freezer."

Someone also found the Moo-Phoria flavour light ice cream in the Bootle Strand store in Merseyside, writing: "Not the packaging we all know but an absolute steal nonetheless, tastes exactly the same."

They make the regular tubs look pathetic.

Needless to say, they quickly sold out. So it's not hard to see why they're back on the shelves (in the freezers).

This comes after Ben and Jerry's unveiled a new flavour that will only be available in Australia and it sends a message to the Australian government.

Most of the time ice cream will only send a message to your waistline, but the Unfudge Our Future flavour hopes to direct attention to the Coalition's use of fossil fuels.

The flavour consists of 'chocolate and peanut butter non-dairy ice cream, fudge brownies and peanut butter cookie dough'.

The tub, which can be bought for $15 each, has a large message written on the side saying: "Dear Scott Morrison, make fossil fuels history!"
