Cheesecake, surely one of man's proudest creations. Yes, we've gone to the moon, mastered flight and domesticated fire, but there's something about inventing the cheesecake that really stands out from all of that for its sheer magnificence.

Likewise, the Oreo. It is marketed as "the world's favourite cookie" and, do you know what? We'd be hard pressed to argue.

So, can you imagine the resulting taste explosion if someone were to put these two culinary behemoths together?

Well, guess what, someone has done just that. What's more, it'll only set you back £1.49.

Discount shopping chain Home Bargains, being the high watermark of exotic cuisine that it is, now offers an actual Oreo cheesecake for just over a quid.

Home Bargains has said that the reasonably-priced wonder-cake is big enough to feed six people, but we reckon you could probably smash one to yourself if you took your belt off.

The mouth-watering dessert features a biscuit base, a cream-cheese middle stuffed with cookies, and is topped with a sprinkling of chocolate.

The retailer posted a picture of the cake on Facebook, with the caption: "TAG a friend you could share this Oreo Cheesecake with!"

The post has racked up more than 3,000 comments and more than 700 shares, with the people of Facebook all swarming to voice their opinions on the shop's latest bargain buy.

"Share? What is the meaning of this word?" said one user. "That picture is a pie chart. The big bit is cake I'm going to eat and the small part is cake I'm going to eat after that."

"Lurve cheesecake so I'd eat it all my self wid lights out and a horror film on," oozed another.

However, not everyone was quite so hyped about the pudding.

One disgusted commenter said: "Rather stick daggers in my eyes, don't get the Oreo thing."

While another posted: "For me yuk on both parts. Don't like cheesecake or Oreos haha."

This isn't the only time Home Bargains has been in the news lately.

On Thursday, a former employee of the discount shopping chain was found guilty of fleecing her former employer out of £6,000.

Katie Lloyd falsely scanned items at the Home Bargains store over a six-month period between January and June this year. She pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation at Worcester Magistrates' Court and has been handed a 12-month community order.
