Iceland Launches Christmas Tree Crisps And We’re All Confused

Go home, Iceland, you’re drunk

It's time for all of the novelty Christmas food products to start inching their way into our lives, and even though it's only just turned October, we already feel like we've seen it all.

Giant pigs in blankets? Yep, there are already two of them - one at Aldi and one from rival supermarket Asda. Oh, and then Tesco came along upped the game even more with pigs in duvets, too.

Then we've got all the advent calendars hitting shelves - from Pringles ones through to beer and pork scratchings ones, we're being spoilt for choice this year.

I mean, despite the fact we're still months away from the big day, most of those things would no doubt get even the biggest Scrooges out there excited.

But now Iceland has gone and thrown us all with something we genuinely don't know what to feel about, and that's Christmas tree-flavoured crisps. Not kidding.

Iceland

Go home, Iceland, you're drunk.

The Luxury Christmas Tree Flavour Salted Hand Cooked Crisps cost just £1 for a 180g bag, and are made with oil from real pine needles.

Iceland's Head Chef, Neil Nugent, said: "At Iceland we are always evolving our product range to include the latest foods and trends. The Christmas Tree Crisps have a slight ready salted flavour with a hint of pine that creates a completely new combination, unlike any other festive flavour."

The response online has for unusual flavour has been seriously mixed.

A photo of the product was shared on food Instagram page @instafoodietwins, where one Instagrammer commented to say the crisps were 'a step too far'.

Another pondered what a Christmas tree even tastes like - nope, we haven't tried one before either.

"Who in this would thinks it a good idea to bring out Christmas tree flavour crisps?" someone else asked.

But others were a little more curious, with one tagging their friend and writing: "We have to try them."

Another did the same, saying: "Ohh got to try the Christmas tree flavoured crisps."

As part of the same range there's also the Luxury Lobster Cocktail Hand Cooked Crisps, which are a 'posh take on the classic prawn cocktail that we all know and love', as well as Luxury Pigs in Blankets Hand Cooked Crisp, which should provide a strong seasonal flavour hit.

Either of those might prove to be as slightly better shout for the less adventurous among us... But if you're feeling brave enough for tree-flavoured crisps, fill ya boots.
