If the appeal of protection from a deadly disease isn't tempting enough for you, then perhaps Kripsy Kreme might be able to convince you to get your Covid-19 vaccine.

The chain is offering people in the US a free doughnut every day for the rest of the year - so long as they have their vaccine card. So the sooner you get jabbed, the more doughnuts you'll be entitled to.

The chain is also giving employees four hours paid time off to get both doses of a vaccine.

Chief marketing officer Dave Skena told Insider: "Whatever little things brands can do to help make it past the pandemic are good things.

"I hope that other brands will see and choose to do something similar."

He added that getting vaccinated is a 'personal choice', but the company wants 'to encourage and make sure nothing is standing in the way'.

The offer starts from today (Monday 22 March), and can be claimed in any of Krispy Kreme's 369 US shops anytime, any day, every day for the rest of the year.

You don't have to buy anything else either, it's completely on the house, though you don't get to choose which doughnut you get - it's the original glazed doughnut only.

Don't you dare have the cheek to complain about that over in America though, you're the only country to benefit from this generous offer. Plus, when you consider the sheer volume of doughnuts that will be given away, it seems fair enough really that you can't have your pick from the menu.

If you live in Washington, DC, you could make your vaccination day one to remember. On 4/20, DC Marijuana Justice (DCMJ) will use the hallowed day in cannabis culture that is 20 April to give away free weed as part of its 'Joints For Jabs' initiative.

So far the DCMJ has amassed 2,200 'doob tubes'; around 1,600 of these contain one 'king-size' joint and the rest contain two smaller 'dog walker' joints. But it's hoped they can more than double this pot pot before the big day.

DCMJ co-founder Adam Eidinger told LADbible: "We're trying to get to 5,000 tubes - that should be enough to easily cover every single vaccination centre in the nation's capitol in Washington, DC. There's about 30 vaccination centres, last time I checked, and they're doing between 4,000 and 5,000 vaccinations a day.

"I don't think every person will take the joint, it's probably going to be about half the people will take it. But I want to blow it out of the water; I want to make sure no one is disappointed on April 20."

Then, when the munchies set in, simply stroll to Krispy Kreme for your free doughnut. Happy vaccination day one and all.
