If you've ever wanted to watch a man eat 32 Big Macs as quickly as possible then buckle up because you're in for a wild ride.

Food challenges and competitive eating is one of those things that either shocks or amazes people.

While the look of someone shovelling food into their gobs over a period time might seem disgusting and glutinous, you can't help but give the person a round of applause.

Most people can just about get through a whole pizza in one sitting, but Joey Chestnut has made a name for himself for getting hot dogs into his mouth better than anyone else. But he decided to leave the sausages alone for this challenge and took on the humble Big Mac.

Thirty-two Big Macs has an astonishing 18,000 calories, which is a little more than seven times the normal caloric intake for one day for one man.

The thought of all that food sitting in your gut makes me feel a little unsettled, but it didn't scare Joey.

If you watch the full 13 minute long video, you'll see that it looks like something of an ordeal. By about five minutes into the attempt, he's sweating buckets and starting to look a little bit like he's no longer enjoying himself.

However, he hadn't bitten off more than he could chew, as he powered on through to set what must surely by a world record.

Although official confirmation is tough to find, some reports suggest that the previous world record for the most amount of Big Macs consumed by one person in one sitting was 30.

That means that he's easily coasted past that and into the history books.

In the description of the YouTube video documenting this herculean feat, Chestnut wrote: "Since being a kid, I've dreamt about eating as many Big Macs as I could.

"As the ultimate cheat day event, I ordered 32 Big Mac sandwiches from Uber Eats and recorded the experience. According to McDonald's, the Big Mac features two 100 percent pure beef patties and Big Mac sauce sandwiched between a sesame seed bun.

"It's topped off with pickles, crisp lettuce, onions and American cheese for a 100 percent beef burger with a taste like no other."

"I remember being a little kid and they would sell two Big Macs for $4 and me and my grandpa would get four of them. I'd end up eating three.

Joey holds a record for eating 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes back in 2018.

"And this is bringing me back to being a kid. Me and my grandpa would go back to the same McDonald's every time.

"And it's crazy, when I drive by that McDonald's I still kinda just think about it. I think about all the times I was there with my grandpa and it's weird the way that food takes you back and helps you remember things. With Big Macs, I definitely remember my grandpa."

Outside of beasting burgers, Chestnut's bread and butter - if you'll excuse the tired pun - is eating hot dogs.

He holds a record for eating 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes back in 2018, and has won 12 out of the last 13 editions of Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, which is sort of the Super Bowl of hot dog eating.

Chicken wings are also no match for Joey's appetite. He also holds the record for eating 413 Hooters chicken wings in 12 hours, on - fittingly - National Chicken Wings Day.
