A diner got more than they bargained for when they went to tuck into a hearty stew and picked out a dead rat.
Wu Yin-ming, from Taiwan's northern Hsinchu City, claims he was treating a friend to a bowl of mutton hot pot when he discovered the lifeless rodent floating in his stew.
As people tend to do in these situations, the disgusted Wu took some pictures of the furry friend, as evidence, picking it up with his spoon.

The animal was allegedly spotted at a restaurant in Zhunan Township, in the island's western county of Miaoli - Wu claims the pot arrived with the rat carcass floating among the food inside.
His pictures show the dead rat - which remains unclear as to how it came to be in his bowl - buried among cabbage and corn in the metal pot of stew.
Seeing the funny side of the incident, Wu joked: "I'm buying mutton stew for a friend and a dead rat has appeared.

"What's this? Buy one, get one free?"
It wasn't all bad news for Wu though, who said the restaurant gave him a full refund for the two meals.
However, the business is not believed to have compensated him further for the unexpected extra ingredient.
Wu isn't the only person to have made light of the situation however, in an apparent reference to Pixar's hit animated film Ratatouille, one person wrote on social media: "Quick, call the police - the chef's died in his own soup."

While another person added: "As long as it's been cooked."
And let's face it, things could have been worse.
Last year a diner at a vegetarian restaurant in Thailand found that they've been eating human flesh in their noodles.

And when you're not planning on eating animal meat, discovering you've been gorging on a human must be a bit of a shock.
It started when people noticed bits of what appeared to be meat in their meals. That led some of the restaurant customers to complain to the manager. Bad move, as it turned out.
Upon closer inspection by the authorities it was discovered that what they thought was pork was actually human flesh - the flesh of a person that the owner of the restaurant allegedly had an argument with.
A further inspection of the premises found that in the kitchen area there were more bits of human meat and blood splattered across the walls. That wasn't even the worst of it.

They then found the corpse of a 61-year-old man inside the septic tank.
The body has since been identified as a former customer of the restaurant who was last spotted having a few drinks in the property by his brother on 21 October.
