McDonald's Australia Is Launching Its First Nationwide Vegetable-Based Burger
McDonald's is coming through with the goods for vegetarians around Australia by launching its first ever nationwide, permanent McVeggie.
The fast food juggernaut has been trialling the vegetarian burger in select places across the country and it seems like it's been a raging success.
The McVeggie patty is made from a blend of potato, peas, corn, carrot, onion and will be topped with the regular McDonald's stuff like cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and pickles/gherkins.
McDonald's Australia Chief Marketing Officer Jenni Dill said: "The McVeggie Burger is packed full of Australian grown veggies.
"The patty is then paired with great tasting cheese, lettuce, herbs and spices, mayonnaise and Macca's iconic pickles, all on a sesame seed bun.
"We know there's an appetite for alternatives to traditional meat proteins and Australians are looking for more plant-based options in their diet.

"As a business constantly focused on responding to what Australians want, we're excited to now be serving up the McVeggie Burger to our customers across the country.
"For those who are vegetarian, although there are no meat ingredients in the McVeggie Burger, due to its cooking procedure, it's not strictly vegetarian."
It was previously trialled in South Australia after having brief stints on and off menus across Australia.
McDonald's admitted that demand drops off pretty steeply after it debuts and they haven't been able to create a good business model around it...until now.
It will be on menus throughout Australia after 10:30am, meaning you can snack on a couple of these bad boys for brunch, lunch, linner, dinner and dessert.
