McDonald's Planning To Add McMuffins Back To Menu In Coming Months

McDonald's Planning To Add McMuffins Back To Menu In Coming Months

The much-loved item is one of a few missing from the menu

Woke up this morning feeling like there's something missing in your life? Well I can't help you with that, but I can give you a bit of good Maccies related news, in that the chain has confirmed that its famous McMuffins will be back soon.

Although you're likely aware that Maccies has re-opened some of its drive-thrus (I'll give you the list of locations in just a minute), you'll also know it's running a reduced service, having re-opened after it closed down for coronavirus lockdown.

In an email to customers, McDonald's boss Paul Pomroy explained why some of the items from its main menu - for example, wraps and shakes - aren't available yet and when we can expect to see the return of familiar favourites like McMuffins.

The CEO of McDonald's UK said: "Over the coming months, we will explore how to extend the menu, increase our opening hours and reintroduce those much-missed McMuffins at breakfast.

"We are doing this deliberately cautiously, guided by the information from governments and health authorities. Working with our employees, franchisees and suppliers I want to ensure we only move forward to the next stage of reopening at the right time, when we are confident it is safe for us to do so. I am very grateful for your continued patience on this."

Branches that have re-opened are currently running reduced hours, only opening between 11am and 10pm. This means they miss that breakfast slot that we all know and rely on in times of hardship (aka when you're hungover).

Pomroy went on to explain why Maccies is currently running a limited menu, adding: "When deciding the reopening menu, we took the decision to remove any items that might be challenging for our our teams to make while maintaining social distancing in the kitchen - for example, wraps and Shakes.

"These are two menu items that often create additional traffic in certain parts of the kitchen and we need more time to ensure that we can bring them back to you, without impacting the safety measures we have put in place.

"I know it is disappointing if these are your usual favourites, but in light of the challenges we are all facing, I really appreciate your understanding of the restrictions and changes that we have implemented to help keep you and our people safe."

The branches that reopened as of Wednesday (20 May) have a range of new measures in place, a capped spend limit of £25, and some will be offering home delivery.

People in Hounslow were more than ready for their Maccies fix when it re-opened this week.
