Several fast food empires ditched delivery fees over the Easter long weekend in Australia, as a gesture to help those self-isolating due to the coronavirus.

One juggernaut in the game was missing from that, however - McDonald's.

Well, guess who's finally jumped on board with the deal? Macca's will be offering free delivery for customers from tomorrow (Friday 17 April) until Sunday (19 April).

Better late than never, we say.

Jo Feeney, Marketing Director at McDonald's Australia said: "McDelivery is a great way for our customers to continue to enjoy their Macca's favourites at home, through contact-free delivery straight to their door.

"Throughout this month, we'll be giving Macca's customers who order contactless McDelivery via the UberEats app free delivery on any orders over $25.

"To start with, the offer will be available for those who place a Macca's order on the UberEats app this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday."

The deal will end at the weekend.

McDonald's recently launched an initiative to help people get all the groceries they needed.

Supermarkets have been a bit overwhelmed at the moment due to the coronavirus and sometimes shoppers have had to leave empty-handed after the essentials were all taken.

But Macca's has now started selling milk, bread and eggs.

A spokesperson said in a statement: "Anyone who comes to a Macca's for our contactless drive-thru or takeaway service will now be able to pick-up milk, English muffins, bread rolls and eggs.

"We're also now able to provide more milk options to customers with the addition of almond, soy and lactose free milk cartons to the menu.

"From today, the bread rolls, English Muffins and milk will also be available to customers who order McDelivery via UberEats, Deliveroo or DoorDash.

"We're pleased to be able to continue to expand this offering to help the community safely access essential items like milk, bread and eggs, as well as their usual Macca's favourites."
