While there are some condiments you'll never see in McDonald's (mayonnaise, we're looking at you in particular, you elusive bastard), every now and again the fast food chain will give the people what they want - both distracting and appeasing us to keep us sweet, even if only for a short while.

Remember the discontinued Szechuan dipping sauce, as made famous by cult comedy Rick and Morty?! Holy moly.

Well, the latest addition to the family is none other than Big Mac Special Sauce, which will be available in dipping pots for the first time ever for McDonald's customers in the UK and Ireland to buy.

A limited run of the dipping pots will go on sale on 12 February, and are expected to get snapped up quickly.

The sauce will come in 50ml pots and will cost 50p each, with a seven-day shelf life - not that they'll last that long, I'm sure.

While they'll be available 24 hours a day, once they're gone, they're gone, meaning you'll probably have to act fast if you want to nab some for yourself.

If you're not in luck this time, or if the limited-edition taste merely sparks an obsession that you must continue to feed, there is a way to recreate the sauce at home, according to one chef.

Miguel Barclay is known for his 'One Pound Meals' series on Instagram, which last year included a homemade Big Mac.

The 35-year-old says his doppelganger of the classic burger takes only minutes to makes and tastes just as good, despite costing just 92p.

In his video he said: "The Big Mac is one of my favourite burgers of all time. I thought I'd give it a go as a bit of fun for my followers.

"It tastes amazing. The revelation for me was using 100 per cent beef and not messing with it as you get a much better result.

"People often over complicate things, especially chefs. They feel like they need to add loads of ingredients, but I believe in simplicity."

As for the sauce? According to the McDonald's website, its special sauce contains a fair few ingredients: 'Soybean Oil, Sweet Relish (Diced Pickles, Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Distilled Vinegar, Salt, Corn Syrup, Xanthan Gum, Calcium Chloride, Spice Extractives), Water, Egg Yolks, Distilled Vinegar, Spices, Onion Powder, Salt, Propylene Glycol Alginate, Garlic Powder, Vegetable Protein (Hydrolyzed Corn, Soy and Wheat), Sugar, Caramel Color, Turmeric, Extractives of Paprika, Soy Lecithin'.

Barclay's version may not taste exactly the same, but it sure is simpler to recreate yourself, as it uses mayonnaise, mustard and his very own secret ingredient: a pinch of tarragon.

A spokesman for McDonald's told the Sun: "We love that Miguel has had a go at recreating the Big Mac. We are definitely claiming some credit for how tasty his looks."
