McDonald's is giving away VIP Gold Cards for the first time ever - offering the lucky recipients a free meal every single week for a year - and you can try and get your hands one right now.

McDonald's Monopoly is back later this month after taking an extended two-and-a-half year break due to the coronavirus.

And to mark the occasion, Maccy D's has decided to add its first ever VIP card as a prize, giving the winners some proper bragging rights when they next pop in to order themselves 20 McNuggets.

Not only will you be able to flash your VIP card like you're a somebody, McDonald's is also offering the card holders one free medium meal every week for a whole year.

The fast-food giant has 1,000 of the VIP cards up for grabs during McDonald's Monopoly, which launches on 25 August and runs for six weeks.

But you don't need to wait until the game kicks off to try and get your hands on one, as McDonald's has said it is offering 10 of them to customers who register and enter via the My McDonald's app before 24 August. Hop to it.

McDonald's said: "It's time to roll out the red carpet for 10 lucky Monopoly superfans! McDonald's is offering customers the chance to win a McDonald's VIP Gold Card and all you have to do is register and enter through the My McDonald's app.

"It has been a long two-and-a-half-year wait for the return of Monopoly at McDonald's, and to make up for lost time, McDonald's is bringing a taste of the VIP experience to customers across the UK.

"From 11 August, customers will have the opportunity to join an elite club of superfans by giving you the chance to win a VIP Gold Card.

"No blue tick needed here, the McDonald's VIP Gold Card is strictly for customers, just like you."

If you're keen to get involved with this years McDonald's Monopoly - the fast food chain has warned that due to the postponement mid-production, packaging with over 200 million Monopoly game pieces had already been printed and dated.

McDonald's, has repurposed this packaging with the outdated game pieces to ensure the Monopoly promotion could return for customers as soon as it was safe to do so in August.

As the game pieces will include the incorrect expiry dates, McDonald's is urging customers to check the dates on the McDonald's website via this link mcdonalds.co.uk/monopoly/news so they don't lose out on the chance to win one of the extraordinary prizes.
