Milka Jaffa Cakes Actually Exist And Look Incredible

Two of the BEST snacks combined

Milka has to be one of the nation's favourite chocolate brands. Once something that you could only enjoy as a treat from your grandparents' latest swoop through duty-free, these days it's everywhere, and we can't get enough.

In fact, not only is it everywhere, but now it also comes in pretty much every form imaginable - including, it seems, Milka Jaffa Cakes.

That's right, imagine the smooth, milky Alpine chocolate that we know and love, and imagine what would happen if it crossed paths with the iconic Jaffa Cake.

A photo of the orangey 'choco dessert' treat was posted on food and drink Instagram product page @newfoodsuk, where we were told they'd been spotted in discount store Home Bargains.

One Instagrammer referred to them as a 'game changer', while another said it was their 'dream combo'.

Someone else wrote: "Omg must get these!"

Another person commented to say that they hoped the 'raspberry ones' would be arriving in England, too. RASPBERRY AS WELL? Stop it, Milka, you're spoiling us!

Judging from the pictures, they look like they're a similar format to the classic Jaffa Cake, with a spongey base topped with a disc of orange-flavoured jelly, topped off with chocolate.

With so many delicious components, it's hard to know how to tackle them. I personally prefer to just bite into it in a 'full moon, half moon, total eclipse' way.

However, McVitie's has now said that there's actually a scientific way you're supposed to be devouring them.

Rather than chomping through it mindlessly, you're apparently supposed to bite away all of the outer edge and then eat the remaining orange jelly, chocolate and sponge in one mouthful.

To reach this vital conclusion, McVitie's consulted food scientist and flavour expert Dr Stuart Farrimond who said: "Science concludes that this eating technique gives the almost perfectly optimised balance of zesty orange, slightly bitter chocolate and sweet airy sponge.

"We ran a panel of experiments to discover the best ratio of chocolate, orange jam and sponge.

"Given that the orange jam layer is pooled in the central segment of the Jaffa Cake, different eating styles will result in different combinations of these three layers in each mouthful.

"Whilst the most common way to eat a Jaffa Cake is the Half Mooner technique, our research concluded that the 'All Rounder' with the middle portion of the Jaffa Cake eaten as one, gives the optimum sweetness, taste and flavour.

"This can only be fully appreciated by nibbling the edge off first and then eating the middle portion alone."

I guess we'd better test to see if this same practice applies to the Milka ones, right? To the shops!
