A mum was left shocked while on holiday in Majorca when her son returned from the shops with a cannabis lollipop.

The mum was staying at a popular Thomas Cook and TUI hotel in Alcudia and was stunned when her 13-year-old son brought back the 'bubblegum' flavoured lolly.

The sweet - which contains cannabis oil and was priced at around 85p - was placed among other sweeties, such as Chupa Chups and Love Hearts.

Reflecting on her boy's purchase, the mum - who wished to remain anonymous - said she feared things could have ended up much worse than they did.

She said: "He found it hilarious, but I didn't - it's truly shocking that such a thing even exists.

"They shouldn't be on the same shelf as all the children's sweets. I have no idea what would have happened if he'd eaten it and made him put it straight in the bin.

"Thank goodness he didn't sneak it in his suitcase, as I'm worried we even could have been stopped at customs on our way home."

In reality, while the lollipops - which are made by Amsterdam company Dr Greenlove - contain cannabis oil, they wouldn't have got the cheeky sweet selecting 13-year-old high, as they don't contain THC.

Indeed, the lollies are just one of many food and drink products on the market these days which contain cannabis oil.

Just last week, Green Times Brewing partnered with Leeds-based Northern Monk to bring us a 7.2 per cent IPA containing cannabis oil.

The aptly-named Green Heathen contains 10mg of the legal and highly popular supplement CBD (cannabidiol) per pint.

Beyond being delicious, the brewers also claim the beer could be good for you, sort of. They say the CBD boosts liver function, which enables you to process alcohol more effectively and subsequently come away from your session with less of a hangover. CBD is also known to have anti-inflammatory effects, which could aid your recovery too.

Big names are also getting involved in the booming cannabis industry.

Jay-Z has joined Caliva as a 'chief brand strategist', according to a statement from the company. The role will see Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, focus on the creative direction, outreach and strategy.

Meanwhile, Mike Tyson is developing a 407-acre site in Southern California called the Tyson Ranch, which will be home to a whole host of tourism attractions, as well as research and education facilities.

So it sounds like now's high time to get involved with the cannabis industry.
